This study is a research into the dialectical relationship between modern European science and philosophy, but it also presents a new vision in some aspects. It refers to the impact of some Arab scientists and philosophers, specifically Al-Kindi, Al-Razi, and Ibn Rushd (Averroes), and highlights the negative role that English empirical philosophy reached with David Hume, by negating the role of reason and denying the existence of matter—the subject of natural science. While it is true that philosophy and science previously worked together, some philosophies have become an enemy lurking at the ability of science to reach certain knowledge, casting doubt on its mechanisms and results, as some contemporary currents of the philosophy of science do today. This book aims to remove some of these doubts about science and give it the status it deserves.
