Laila Abouzeid is a Moroccan writer residing in Rabat. She was born in 1950 in Kasbah in the Middle Atlas Mountains.

She holds a degree in English Language and Literature from Mohammed V University in Rabat and the University of Texas at Austin. She began her career as a television journalist and worked in various ministerial offices, including the Prime Minister's office. She has written novels, short stories, biographies, autobiographies, and travel literature. She translated from English to Arabic the biography of King Mohammed V and the autobiography of Malcolm X. Her works have been translated into English, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, French, Maltese, and Jordanian Arabic.
