This memoir, which I am writing, is essentially based on memories and some sources I have referred to, especially now that I am around 71 years old. This endeavor came about at the urging of my wife Latifa and my three children: Mary, Camille, and Amal, with the latter being the most insistent. After about a year of contemplation, I was compelled to start writing, a process that began in early 1948. Naturally, these memoirs may not be as complete or accurate as I would like, given that many events I recount have not been published in books, newspapers, or any accessible sources.
