Recently, interest in Islamic banks as a distinct field of study has grown among universities and scientific institutes worldwide. The specialization in Islamic banking is now taught in many universities at all levels of higher education. It is noteworthy that this specialization was previously part of Sharia faculties in most universities, with references focusing primarily on the jurisprudential aspects of Islamic banking. Higher education institutions have recently recognized, through feedback from Islamic banks, a pressing need for graduates capable of executing Islamic banking operations, not just those qualified to issue fatwas. This led to the establishment of Islamic banking programs in faculties of economics and administrative sciences to meet the needs of Islamic financial institutions. A major challenge for both students and professors was the scarcity of specialized banking, financial, and accounting references on Islamic banking. When teaching banking operations management, we found no comprehensive resources. Even existing books on traditional banking operations, written by finance and banking specialists, did not convincingly reflect the management of these operations, likely due to a lack of practical experience in Islamic banks, resulting in a purely academic approach.
These factors prompted us to author a book on the management of Islamic banking operations. It aims to create and develop the intellectual and practical banking skills governed by the principles of Islamic Sharia for graduates of banking sciences in general and Islamic banking in particular. It also seeks to enrich the Arab-Islamic library, which has a significant gap in this field, especially since the three of us hold doctorates in Islamic banking and have many years of practical experience.
The book focuses on the executive management of Islamic banking operations, detailing each local banking operation with an emphasis on practical procedures. It is elaborated to a degree that allows the reader to understand the finest details, preparing the student to be a successful candidate for a career in banking. The book's key feature is its blend of practical and theoretical aspects, providing an unprecedented level of detail about internal bank operations. This makes it a valuable resource for bank employees and students to enhance their banking culture and awareness of Islamic banking.
