Due to the vast number of instincts recorded throughout the ages in the Library of Instincts, consciousness can hardly find a new one. There is no such thing as a new instinct in the absolute sense; rather, it is often an old instinct with a different intensity. Some instincts, like anger, have multiple levels of concentration. A person might become enraged and even kill if someone takes their food—their first possession. However, if someone takes their clothes—their second possession—the same instinct of anger is triggered, but with less intensity. A person may fight for their clothes, but they will not kill for them unless the conflict becomes a fight for their life.
