...And so, seventy years have passed since my affiliation with socialist thought, up to this moment in my intellectual, political, and personal life, as I stand on the threshold of my ninetieth year. Therefore, I found it useful in this book to recall and introduce a significant stage in the history of Lebanon primarily, and in the history of the Lebanese Communist Party specifically, with events and personalities that played a historic role, both positively and negatively—the positive being the most important. The function of this remembrance and introduction is to present to the new generations aspiring for change in our eternal homeland, Lebanon, a picture of these names and events, without which these generations cannot move towards the future they seek for this nation, whether in the name of socialism after its necessary renewal in the conditions of the era, or in other forms that those aspiring for change have the right to adopt as an ideology, policy, and program for change. However, to the history linked to Lebanon and the Lebanese Communist Party and its symbols, I have added the names of several symbols of the leftist movement in Lebanon, the Arab world, and the world, to complete the picture I have of the past and its glories, and to launch from it into the coming future, the search for which will remain my companion until the end of my life...
