Man is a being whom God has gifted with a mind, through which he has been able to cultivate the earth, erect structures, build ships that roam the seas, and aircraft that soar through the skies and space. Man's activities and paths in this life are diverse; he is a social being who lives in a community. Without his existence in a group, he would not have been able to achieve all these accomplishments and progress. One of the factors that has helped man excel is the existence of order and law to govern his various activities within the community. If man were left without regulation in every activity he practices, chaos and confusion would prevail, and he would spend his life in conflict with others due to conflicting interests and varying human strengths. Law is the tool through which man has sought to regulate human behavior to achieve peaceful coexistence and respect for the material and moral rights of others. Based on the importance of law, this book examines the definition and significance of law, explaining the characteristics of its rules and how they differ from other rules that govern individuals' behavior in society, such as religious, ethical, and other rules of courtesy and tradition. This book also seeks to discuss the sources from which legal rules derive their provisions. It also addresses the theory of rights, defining rights, their types, their mechanisms of use, and methods of their protection and proof in disputes. This book also contains an overview of the legal profession, explaining its meaning and the role of the lawyer who practices it. In addition, this book aims to clarify the meaning of some contracts of practical importance, such as sales, lease, insurance, agency, guarantee, and labor contracts, which are witnessed almost daily in people's lives. Furthermore, this book discusses the topic of crimes, their types, when criminal liability arises for a person, when a person is exempted from liability, when punishment is refrained, and when an act is considered justified and not subject to punishment. It also clarifies the most important guarantees provided by the law for a person accused of committing a crime. The most common crimes seen in practical life are also explained, such as financial crimes like theft, fraud, breach of trust, and issuing a check without sufficient funds, as well as crimes against persons like murder, assault, defamation, and insult. All of this is presented through stops and stations for the reader of this book, aiming to give the traveler through this book a general idea of the most important legal issues, the knowledge of which constitutes a significant legal culture in a world that today is based on law and the rule of law.
