Left-Handed narrates, alongside promises and physical differences, how people face betrayals of various kinds. The first part (Refiner) deals with the initial shock and the betrayal itself. The second part (Summer) discusses the choice some people make after this shock, clinging to memories to protect themselves from disappointment again. The third part (Alien) addresses the realization that grips the victim and their intense desire to continue living without constantly dwelling on painful memories. However, the pain of forgetting beautiful memories that occurred before the shock, and all broken promises and efforts made, leave a person stuck between two pains.
The fourth part (Knight) signifies complete maturity after the confusion between remembering and forgetting, reaching a safe resolution when memories turn into experiences and pain transforms into acceptance.
