This book presents 111 educational games, some of which can be used as an introduction to a lesson, others during the presentation, and some as a final evaluation for the class. The timing of their use and selection depends on the nature of the classroom situation and the desired objective. Ultimately, the teacher is the leader in the classroom, who determines and chooses the appropriate game. However, it is crucial that the choice is not random or merely for entertainment, but rather directed to achieve specific goals. We want learning through play to benefit both students and teachers, making the educational environment a fruitful one.
This book has been divided into four chapters. The first chapter is a theoretical introduction to learning through play, covering its definition, benefits, teachers' beliefs about it, types of educational games, traditional games, the shortcomings of learning through play, how to teach using it, the teacher's role, and guidelines for its use.
The second chapter consists of a collection of educational games that rely on engaging the mind and thinking processes, with each game supported by an applied example.
In the third chapter, a set of games based on movement is presented, with an example for each game.
The fourth and final chapter is dedicated to discussing traditional Omani games and how to employ them in the teaching process, providing an example for each traditional game presented in this chapter.
