Kifayat al-Akhyar fi Hal Ghayat al-Ikhtisar: A Commentary on Matn Abi Shuja'
Published for the first time, verified against the author's manuscript.

There is no doubt that the science of Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) holds a noble rank and sublime merits. Therefore, it has been given the utmost attention, for its path leads to Paradise, and acting upon it is a protection from the Hellfire, as Imam al-Hisni (may Allah have mercy on him) stated in the book's introduction.

Due to the many distractions of worldly life, the numerous duties of a believer, and the great virtue of Fiqh—it being the essence of legislative sources—the author aimed to provide a medium-length jurisprudential commentary for both specialized and non-specialized students of knowledge.

Given the importance, prevalence, and frequent memorization of the book *Ghayat al-Ikhtisar*, famously known as *Matn Abi Shuja'*, the author composed this beautiful commentary. In it, he explains the text, provides essential definitions, supports legal rulings with evidence or provides reasoning if evidence is not mentioned, and includes some exegesis and source-referencing without deviating from the book's main purpose. He also adds other jurisprudential elaborations that are important for students, all in a clear, eloquent, and solid style. The book's clarity is enhanced by its numerous classifications and branches.

This is a well-known and highly famous book among students of knowledge, often carried by those studying Fiqh. However, the printed editions in circulation are rife with errors and distortions, some of which unfortunately alter the meaning—a serious and painful matter. This issue is well-known to students who deal with it reluctantly. If this is the case for students, what about the general public who may encounter these errors without realizing them?

We have worked diligently to produce a corrected edition, verifying it against numerous manuscript and printed copies. The manuscript copies included: the author's precious manuscript from Germany, two manuscripts from a period close to the time of composition, a manuscript from Imam Muhammad ibn Saud University, and four from the Azhar Library in Egypt. The printed copies included annotated versions by esteemed scholars.

This humble effort was undertaken to honor the author of *Kifayat*, presenting it meticulously refined, hoping for acceptance and to bring comfort and confidence to the reader, free from scholarly or printing errors.
