The events of this novel take place in the city of Basan, near a mountain range, where an anomaly in the Earth's magnetic field has occurred. According to NASA, this anomaly indicates an imminent reversal of the Earth's poles, causing the north pole to become south and the south pole to become north, thus making east become west. Since the sun rising from the west is one of the signs of the Day of Judgment, the residents of Basan prepare for this great event, trying to confess their sins and atone for them. They are well aware of the injustice, greed, and selfishness that prevailed in their city. Every individual thought only of themselves and wronged others. Injustice spread from brother to brother, neighbor to neighbor, and even from a person to themselves. Everyone in this city deviated from the truth and acted unjustly, and from this, the name 'Janaf' (Deviation) was given to this novel. The events unfolding in this novel represent the internal conflict within the human soul between good and evil. After every individual in the city confessed their sins to everyone on a day they thought was their last, only to find out it wasn't, how can they continue their lives after this exposure? What flaws can they cover up after being laid bare before everyone?
