Jami' al-Ulum wa al-Hikam fi Sharh Khamsin Hadithan min Jawami' al-Kalim (The Compendium of Knowledge and Wisdom in the Explanation of Fifty Hadiths from the Concise Words) is a book authored by Al-Hafiz Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali (736 AH – 795 AH). The book is a commentary on Al-Nawawi's Forty Hadiths and is considered one of the best explanations due to its comprehensive treatment of both the chain of narration (sanad) and the text (matn) of the hadiths. Imam al-Nawawi originally compiled forty-two hadiths in his famous collection. Ibn Rajab expanded upon this by adding eight more hadiths, naming his comprehensive work Jami' al-Ulum wa al-Hikam. This book is a vast collection of various sciences, made accessible for the general reader yet indispensable for the student of knowledge. It discusses the authenticity and classification of hadiths, tracing them to their primary sources, a testament to the author's status as a master of hadith (Hafiz). It also delves into matters of creed and legal rulings with great insight. In essence, the book is a true compendium of knowledge and wisdom.
