The science of Hadith explanation is a branch of Hadith studies. Scholars have dedicated effort to collecting and explaining the 'Forty Hadith' based on the narration that the Prophet said, "Whoever preserves for my community forty hadiths from the Sunnah, I will be an intercessor for him on the Day of Resurrection." By another definition, it is the science concerned with explaining the Prophetic traditions (hadiths), clarifying their meanings and purposes, and the rulings derived from them, while also presenting the opinions of scholars on these matters.
