The second part covers the history of sciences, arts, and literature in the 4th Hijri century, providing a panoramic view over disciplines such as interpretation, Hadith, jurisprudence, theology, ethics, philosophy, mysticism, grammar, rhetoric, literature, geography, art, agriculture, commerce, administration, and justice.

In the third part, the author specializes in the intellectual life in Andalusia from its Muslim conquest until their expulsion.

The fourth part discusses Islamic doctrines and beliefs, their evolution, conflicts, and future. Notably, this was the last work of Ahmed Amin before his passing.
