Stemming from materialist philosophy, when does a child's life begin: from the moment of fertilization or after? When does a fetus become a human with the right to life, a right and a life that must not be violated? And when is it merely waste from previous ancestors—worms, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and mammals—that can be aborted, its life ended and disposed of? What about the end of life? Can those deprived of higher brain functions—like thought and intelligence—be considered persons? Regardless of whether their other vital organs and systems function regularly, and regardless of their biological processes operating automatically? Or are they objects whose lives can be terminated by a lethal injection, followed by the removal of needed organs for transplantation?

The difference between us and them is not about science as data, observations, and experiments, but about the very starting point: the materialist mindset that interprets these observations and experiments. We as Muslims—who believe in God, His attributes, and His actions—do not view science and its data in the same way materialists do. Therefore, we must be well aware of the difference between us and them, and realize that it is not a marginal issue, but at the core of science and its utility. This is especially true when scientific results are promoted among Muslims as supporting atheism and calling for it, and science becomes a vehicle for opportunistic atheists who want to market their bankrupt ideas to the weak-minded and short-sighted. They are told that science denies the existence of God, proves the falsehood of religions, establishes chaos and randomness, and supports the theory of evolution. The naive fall into the trap, deceived by the allure and ornamentation of falsehood...

This research, in addition to addressing the most famous overlapping issues between Islam and science, primarily aims to understand the root cause of this fundamental difference, the essence of the distinction between us and them, and then to present a methodological approach for dealing with it.
