Modern algebra has been and continues to be one of the most important topics in fundamental mathematics. Group theory is a significant branch of modern algebra, not only for mathematics students but also for other scientific disciplines such as physics, chemistry, and more. Its importance has grown, especially since the 1960s, due to the expansion of its scientific applications.

The authoring of this book, which is designed as a curriculum for third and fourth-year students in colleges of education and science, an aid for physics and chemistry students studying applications of group theory, and an indispensable resource for graduate students in mathematics, is the result of long experience and expertise in teaching this subject.

Care has been taken to facilitate and simplify the concepts within by presenting ideas in a detailed and sequential manner, providing diverse examples, questions, and a large number of theorems and results.

This book consists of six chapters. The first chapter is an introduction to groups, containing many examples, each representing a significant direction in group theory. The second chapter focuses on subgroups. The third chapter discusses normal subgroups. The fourth chapter covers group homomorphisms and their fundamental theorems. Permutation groups are studied in the fifth chapter. Finally, the sixth chapter includes the study of Sylow p-subgroups, where p is a prime number.

In this brief introduction, the author thanks Ziad Tariq Abdul-Amir for his valuable efforts in making the necessary corrections to the final version, as well as the College of Science and Sana'a University for their kind care and welcome.
