Marxism is a philosophy aiming to understand the world to change it. Marx stated, 'All philosophers have done is interpret the world in various ways; the point, however, is to change it.' Thus, while past philosophies attempted to comprehend the world and humanity's place and fate within it, often influenced by class perspectives and biases of the privileged class philosophers, Marxist philosophy seeks to understand the world for the purpose of changing it and shaping humanity's destiny. Dialectical materialism is a theoretical tool for the people to use in transforming the world, therefore it is a popular, scientific, and practical philosophy in the truest sense.
