The focus of this book is on translating the introduction and first chapter of 'Poetics of Values' by the French critic Vincent Jouve. It includes a scholarly presentation on the theoretical framework he developed and applied to Western literary texts, supplemented with a glossary of terms from the translated part and a register of notable figures based on their perspectives. This work holds significant importance in modern literary criticism due to the intriguing question it raises: How can we establish an approach to literary texts that targets both poetics and value dimensions?

Thus, the aspect of novelty is its most distinguishing feature, as it studies the text from a comparative perspective drawn from the vast scientific scope Jouve worked within. Combining internal and external textual analyses required employing various scientific resources to shift away from the conventional view of the text that many earlier critiques adhered to. Their analytical approach was insufficient for a comprehensive study, as considering only the contextual value or solely the artistic and aesthetic features failed to explore the depths of textual analysis if they remained separate.

Therefore, the methodological approach that emerged through the translation activity of 'Poetics of Values' offers a unique potential impact in the field of studying Arabic literary texts.
