From a humanistic perspective, a child is first and foremost a human being, regardless of their distinction or delay, qualified for everything befitting a human. Each child has their own personality, traits, and unique features, and every child differs in their abilities and areas of strength or weakness. Often, strengths outweigh weaknesses in children, but some children have more weaknesses than strengths; these are the children called “special needs,” meaning they have learning difficulties that vary from one individual to another.

Children with special needs are educationally defined as those who face learning difficulties and problems that prevent them from showing their full potential, which hinders their progress and development. Therefore, they require special educational intervention and support. Consequently, “Special Education” or “Special Needs Education” is understood as education directed at children with special educational needs to provide them with the greatest amount of support that contributes to their learning and advancement in society, just like any other child, by dedicating appropriate educational methods, diverse resources, and effective academic support.

Previously, special education was isolated in special institutions and schools for children suffering from mental, sensory, or physical disabilities, and for children who dropped out of school for reasons beyond these common disabilities. Today, with the issuance of the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Rights of the Child, “special needs education” has become an important part of regular education and regular schools, which now include children who need special educational support.

The concept of integrating students with special needs into regular schools in a single context, fully with regular children, has spread. The need to clarify the individual and personal needs of each child to receive the educational care they require has surfaced. From this standpoint, there has been a focus on teachers working in this field, holding courses for them under the title “Learning Difficulties” to increase the teacher's awareness and knowledge of this group present in schools and regular classrooms. This prevents them from failing to deal properly and fairly with all their students, as they now possess all the means and capabilities to help them do so. It also takes into account the individual differences among students, as different environments contribute to creating individual differences because they come from different social classes, which creates different concepts. The family's circumstances and its social and educational status also contribute to the existence of individual differences among students. It is not only students with disabilities who have learning difficulties.
