Mental health is no less important than physical health for a person, and it requires effort and resources to help individuals overcome anything that might disrupt their lives and threaten their security and stability. Perhaps one of the most significant new developments that have become dangerous indicators for destroying the normal hopes and aspirations of a person is addiction in its various forms, colors, and classifications. This has paved the way to mislead the good efforts in building a person and guiding their life, turning it into terrifying nightmares that can transform the conveniences and enhancers of a happy life produced by civilization into catastrophic ends for a significant number of people who cannot comprehend the outcomes of that civilization and use them correctly.

This book, titled "Impediments to Mental Health," which we refer to as (Internet Addiction, Sexual Deviations, Drugs), has come to shed light on the seriousness and repercussions of these ever-relevant topics and their effects on the life of the individual and society. We hope this contributes to confronting these dangers by attempting to fortify our sons and daughters with the necessary psychological and societal culture that enables them to overcome them with the least possible losses. And God is the granter of success.

The Concept of Health: There is a definition by Auders and others that health is not a static state but a state of balance between physiological, psychological, and social resources and the body's protection and defense mechanisms on one hand, and the latent disease-causing effects of the physical, biological, and social environment on the other. Consequently, it is assumed that an individual must always build and achieve their health, whether in the sense of immune defense or adapting to purposeful changes in environmental conditions. According to this definition, health is a systemic, procedural, and relational concept. This view focuses on the resource aspect, i.e., the role of protective factors in the personality that should be developed and supported, on growth skills and abilities, and on the potential latent nature of health. This definition differs from that of the World Health Organization, which relies on individual competence in developing and maintaining health rather than on an ideal state where health is measured by how close an individual is to it, as is the case in the WHO definition.
