She held me to her chest after a long absence, sobbing fervently... I could never mistake the scent of her motherhood among all the scents of the world... A mother's scent is the scent of the homeland... They would blindfold me and pile up the family's clothes piece by piece, hiding a single piece of my mother's clothing within... They would pass the clothes under my nose one by one... And when my mother's garment reached me, I would shout at the top of my lungs: "This is it." Without ever making a mistake! Voices of admiration and astonishment would rise... before a child who never mistakes his mother's scent... I feel her distinctive fragrance still lingers in my nostrils even now... Truly, I "smell the scent of Maryam" in my memory!
