From the novel: No one can truly know you and touch your depths except for yourself. In the darkness of our inner selves, we cast ourselves into the cells of despair upon the beds of hope, having shed the illusory self we wear. We embrace ourselves like embryos, with a transparency that our companions, and even those legally bound to our bodies, cannot perceive. We descend into the graves of dreams, shrouding our bodies with the sheets of days, stripped bare of all things tangible. We lie on the body of 'Why', rest our heads on the arms of 'How', and fall asleep on the chest of 'When', only to awaken to a reality that bears no resemblance to our souls, our depths, or our dreams. A reality like a shoe our bodies are forcibly stuck in, allowing the days to carry us along, staining us with mud, leaving only the evening's darkness to feel ourselves and run away, only to lie down once again on the body of 'Why'.
