Hysteria by Sigmund Freud

The year 1905 was marked by two significant events in the history of psychoanalysis: the publication of three essays on the theory of sexuality and the release of this text known as "Dora's Case".

These events were expected as the three essays were destined to be controversial. This controversy was further fueled by Freud's publication of his report on Dora's case.

Critics accused Freud of betraying professional confidentiality by revealing the intimate details of a patient's life who had trusted him. This patient was an eighteen-year-old girl, and Freud attributed homosexual tendencies to her in his analysis.

This book is important as it is the first detailed and practical report on the psychoanalytic treatment of a neurosis and also serves as an application of the theories Freud presented in his major work: The Interpretation of Dreams.
