Fatima opened Suad's closet and looked at her new clothes, dominated by cheerful colors, some with threads of gold or silver, or colored stones. She picked up a medium-sized bag where Suad keeps her makeup and beauty creams. The first thing she did was draw three parallel lines on each cheek with a kohl pencil, imitating the picture of the lady on the wall. The picture was of a woman in her forties, her maternal grandmother, who passed away a few days before Fatima was born and after whom she was named.
