I am not a historian, nor do I follow the academic approach in my writings and observations. Rather, I am a witness to a senseless war that devastated a society, displaced people, and shattered the dreams of generations who longed for a homeland! I witnessed a war that turned people's dreams into daily nightmares due to their witnessing of destruction, ruin, and migration to the unknown! This war impacted faith and social values, diverting them away from loyalty to the country, and caused a deep rift between the Lebanese as they fought among themselves like tribes in the jungle. They tore apart all the covenants of coexistence, harmony, love, and tolerance, losing and causing others to lose the rights of honorable citizenship. People became weary of the combatants' actions and preferred exile in other lands over staying in a 'Homeland on a Hot Tin Roof,' where its noble sons are scorched by its fire, while the warlords found the fire cold and peaceful, absorbed in their delusion, seeking power, and eliminating the other, even if it opens the gates of hell on a homeland weighed down by wounds of spite, hatred, and animosity!
