Beginning with a comprehensive study of the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), relying on the Quran as the primary source of Islamic legislation, it also draws upon the Sunnah of the Prophet.

The book explains the role of scholars in deducing rulings over the years as jurisprudence and its foundations grew into a coherent body of legislation. It emphasizes the need for diligent work to establish jurisprudence societies for deducing new rulings and reviewing certain rulings not based on universally accepted evidence. The hope is to create a scholarly environment conducive to the ongoing development and growth of Islamic legislation in all areas of economic, social, and intellectual life.
