It was said of old... "If your winds blow, seize them." Indeed, the winds of generosity blew upon my thoughts, and before I knew it, I had finished these words. By God, if I had delayed writing these lines, I might never have written them at all. These words are a part of me, a remnant of what was left by the family of longing and pure love. I wrote them with purified hands, a conscious heart, and a delicate style. I wrote them for a unique creation, one without parallel. Had these words been written for another, they would not have left the tongue nor been heard by the ears. They are from the depths of my soul to the depths of hers. Not a moment passed by eye or ear, nor did I seek a small price for them. Instead, they were the source of my strength and the joy of her life. We both smiled at these words, then laughed, then wept, then smiled again at their effect. I was happy to write them, and she was happy to read them, and we were both happy for this book, which is read with the eye of the soul, not the eye of the body. Beneath each of its letters lies an eternal meaning, understood only by those who are members of the ancient institution of tranquility—and how few they are. These words are my treasure from her world, my share of her heart, and my fortune from her mind. We lived by them for a time, and we will live by them for another, until God decrees a matter that was destined to be.
