This book is partly based on the work 'General Trends in the Law of Civil Transactions for the United Arab Emirates: A Comparative Study with Arab Codes'. It examines the position of the Jordanian Civil Code regarding general trends in modern legal codes, most importantly the principle of the authority of will, objective and subjective tendencies, the theory of apparent versus internal will, the extent of judicial authority, and individualistic versus collective tendencies. It also addresses two highly important issues: the matter of rejecting compensation for delay in Jordanian civil law and the proposed jurisprudential and judicial solutions, as well as the issue of interest in Jordanian and other Arab legislations. The author continues his approach by examining other Arab civil codes, particularly the two laws derived from the Jordanian Civil Code: the Sudanese Civil Transactions Law and the Emirati Civil Transactions Law. In conclusion, the author points to some provisions where the Emirati legislator has expanded upon and drawn from Islamic jurisprudence, which have no counterpart in the Jordanian Civil Code.
