Fatwas by Al-Qaffal Abu Bakr Abdullah bin Ahmad bin Abdullah (327AH/938AD – 417AH/1026AD), known as Al-Qaffal Al-Marwazi, or the younger Al-Qaffal, was a Shafi'i jurist and leader of the Khorasanis or Marwazi in the Shafi'i school. He began pursuing knowledge at an older age, after working in locksmithing until he was thirty. He became unparalleled in his time in jurisprudence, memorization, and piety. He was a reliable figure in his local legal school, authored numerous works, and contributed significant insights. When the term Al-Qaffal is mentioned in jurisprudence books, it refers to him unless specified otherwise as Al-Qaffal Al-Shash or the elder. Al-Qaffal Al-Shash is more recognized in sources on jurisprudence, discourse, exegesis, Hadith, and debate.
