Fath al-Mubdi is a commentary on the abridgment of az-Zubaidi. The scholar Imam Hafiz Zainuddin az-Zubaidi summarized Sahih al-Bukhari by eliminating the chains of transmission and repetitive hadiths, naming it the Clear Abridgment of the Authentic Compilation. Sheikh Abdullah al-Sharqawi then expounded on this summary, refining and analyzing the expressions, clarifying grammar points, explaining terms, extracting legal rulings, and presenting various jurists' opinions. His commentary is accessible and balanced, neither too long nor too brief, and he called it Fath al-Mubdi.
