The story's content focuses on the supremacy of place and the dominance of the female character—who bears four names ("Ramina," "Famina," "Mina," and "Amina")—over the male protagonist, "Wadi." "Wadi" represents the unsettled young man, symbolizing the displaced Palestinian in search of an identity and a homeland, having moved between his village, Jerusalem, Ramallah, Amman, and other cities. These places are only made complete by the female presence, who grants them their beauty, charm, and every imaginable sense of joy and peace.
