The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King is set in a fictional kingdom called Delain, where King Roland and his sons Peter and Thomas live. The evil magician Flagg—also appearing in other King works—interferes in the kingdom's affairs, falsely accusing heir Prince Peter of murdering his father the king.

Peter is imprisoned in a tall tower known as the Needle Tower and begins plotting an ingenious escape plan to reclaim his right to the throne, while his younger brother Thomas rules the land under Flagg's malevolent influence.
