In this book, we address the explanation of intentional harm crimes, whether classified as misdemeanors or felonies, as well as the explanation of unintentional harm misdemeanors. We then move on to explain the crime of murder in its various forms:

  • 1. Intentional murder, premeditated murder, parricide, murder associated with a felony, murder associated with a misdemeanor, infanticide by a mother to avoid shame, murder occurring during a group brawl where the perpetrator cannot be identified, and intentional murder with mitigating legal excuses.
  • 2. Unintentional murder (resulting from negligence, recklessness, imprudence, lack of caution, or non-compliance with laws and regulations). We will clarify that the applicable text for deaths resulting from car accidents, as well as permanent disabilities, is now Article (27) of the Traffic Law, according to the established jurisprudence of the Court of Cassation on this matter.

This book also includes an explanation of the crime of abortion, both in its misdemeanor and felony forms. It also provides an explanation of the crimes of rape, indecent assault, sexual intercourse with a female under eighteen years of age, and unnatural intercourse (sodomy), which was introduced by Temporary Law No. (12) of 2010. It is noted that this last crime, unnatural intercourse, was repealed by Amending Law No. (8) of 2011. This law was issued after this section had been explained in detail, and I have chosen to keep its explanation in this book for academic benefit, although it no longer exists in the currently applied law.

The study will not be limited to the jurisprudential aspect but will also be reinforced by judicial rulings, particularly from the Jordanian Court of Cassation.

This book is structured in four parts as follows:

  • Part One: Crimes of Harm (Intentional and Unintentional).
  • Part Two: Crimes of Murder (Intentional and Unintentional).
  • Part Three: Explanation of crimes of self-administered justice, resisting public officials and acts of violence against them, and crimes of slander, defamation, contempt, and threat.
  • Part Four: Explanation of crimes of abortion, defloration under promise of marriage, crimes of rape and sexual intercourse, crimes of indecent assault and fondling, acts contrary to public decency, and unnatural intercourse and sodomy.
