An era of history: To solve a problem, we must examine its roots. If this issue has lasted for many years, we should study its history and carefully review its records. This is what the author, Othman bin Mohammed Al-Khamees, did regarding the contemporary issue of Sunni and Shia differences. He explored the roots of this historical period to distinguish between truth and falsehood concerning a critical era that significantly impacts the Islamic world today, referred to as the 'Great Fitna.' Instead of conventional narration, he begins by explaining methods for reading history and verifying its authenticity, then recounts events prior to this stage, starting with the Caliphate of Abu Bakr, through to the great dissension, and concluding with Yazid's allegiance and Al-Hussein's move to Kufa. The book further addresses, in its third and fourth chapters, claims about the integrity of the Companions and counters any doubts about them. Lastly, it tackles the arguments Shia use to claim Ali's rightful leadership. By presenting a method for historical analysis and practical application, the author refutes falsehoods with evidence and reasoning.
