Defining educational terminology is one of the most significant challenges facing postgraduate students and professionals in the field of education. This field is characterized by diverse viewpoints, as specialists approach it from multiple angles, different starting points, and various aspects. This has led to a multiplicity of terms and a variation in their meanings and operational definitions among these specialists. This may be due to differences in the educator's or theorist's philosophy, their intellectual reference points, and the non-static nature of educational phenomena. While the lack of agreement on specific definitions for educational terms and concepts can enrich the research field for experts, it can also cause misconceptions or confusion for novice students of education. This prompted the author to compile a work that gathers a collection of educational terms in several fields, which can serve as a fundamental basis for a common understanding among specialists in education.
The terms in this work are classified into eight fields, arranged according to the logical progression of study in each area. The first field covers curricula and teaching methods, the second addresses educational technology, and the third deals with the teaching of thinking. The fourth field focuses on administration and quality of education, the fifth on educational measurement and evaluation, the sixth on educational research, the seventh on educational statistics, and finally, the eighth field covers scientific culture. To facilitate usage, each of the eight fields includes an alphabetically sorted Arabic index, allowing the reader to easily and quickly find the desired term.
