The Enchiridion is one of the classics of ancient Roman literature, from one of the late Stoic moral philosophers, who established in his book the principles of Stoic moral philosophy. It presents their perspective on the philosophy of life and death, their vision for reconciliation between the self and nature, and how to accept the decrees of fate. Epictetus represented what could be called the 'people's philosopher,' and his fame and teachings spread throughout the Roman Empire, influencing Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Epictetus left no written works himself; rather, his student Flavius Arrianus collected his ideas in the book 'Discourses,' and then decided to abridge it to bring us this 'Enchiridion' (The Manual).
