This book is a collection of research and scholarly papers presented at the seventh training course in the field of manuscript editing, organized by the Center for the Study of Islamic Manuscripts at Al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation and Dar al-Hadith al-Hassania, from March 3 to 8, 2014, at Dar al-Hadith al-Hassania in Rabat.

The research addresses the history of editing in the sciences of the noble Prophetic Hadith and the science of biographies and sheikhdoms, both theoretically and practically. It covers the steps followed and encompasses all the tasks required by the editor, whether on a theoretical level—such as the scientific concept of editing, its principles, methodologies, and problems, and the sources the editor should be familiar with—or on a practical level, such as selecting and authenticating the text, searching for and critiquing its copies, exploring its traditions, the process of transcription and collation, editing and processing, annotation, and study. Additionally, it deals with correcting scribal errors and distortions, variations in narrations within Hadith manuscripts, and textual paratexts: their types, classification, and the benefits they hold, etc.
