The emergence of e-commerce heralded radical changes in all aspects of life and at various levels. These changes were not limited to the commercial and marketing fields, as the term's superficial meaning might suggest. Instead, the change encompassed the structure of most countries and societies, whether in their economic environment, institutional organizations, customer behavior, or various government activities and transactions. The nature of relationships between employees within organizations and with their external partners was reconsidered. The way the economy operates has changed, with new methods and different types of transactions emerging. Traditional intermediary roles have disappeared, and new distribution channels, along with entirely different advertising and promotion methods, have appeared. With them came the problems of the digital divide between countries, societies, and between men and women, as well as issues of security and privacy of customers' personal data and how to protect it.

The use of information and communication technology and the increasing reliance on it in various fields of life have led to the emergence of what is known as the Digital Revolution and the Digital Economy, a term that refers to an economy based on digital technology, including digital communication networks (Internet, Intranet, Extranet), computers, software, and other information technologies.

Based on the above, one author emphasizes that even the expression for the current era, the 'Information Age,' is no longer the famous term that filled the press and media throughout the nineties. Instead, the discourse is moving towards describing the era we live in as the age of the 'Information Super-Highway.' In this environment, it was inevitable that our behavior would change, which was the main reason for the birth and subsequent growth of the idea of e-commerce.
