"Tarjuman al-Ashwaq" (The Interpreter of Desires) represents a model of Ibn Arabi's poetry—that of sincere, pure emotionalism which he himself explained and named "Dhakha'ir al-A'laq fi Sharh Tarjuman al-Ashwaq" (Treasures of Attachments in the Explanation of the Interpreter of Desires). "Tarjuman al-Ashwaq" served as the interpreter of what was in Ibn Arabi's heart, being the ladder by which he ascended above the tempestuous storms of human love, seeking spiritual tranquility in the serenity of divine love.
