Hassaan Bin Thabit was born approximately 60 years before the Hijra. He was a companion and recited poetry before Islam, often visiting the Ghassanid kings in the Levant. After accepting Islam, he was considered the Prophet Muhammad's poet. His praises for the Ghassanids were well-known before Islam.

Hassaan's poetry is a historical treasure of our heritage. Unfortunately, much of what exists of his Diwan today is heavily edited or altered, damaging its authenticity, leaving little that can confidently be attributed to its original poet.
