One of the greatest legacies left to me by my father, Stephen R. Covey, is the realization that my future and destiny are in my hands, and I have the ability to choose who and what I will become.

I feel uniquely qualified to write this introduction because I grew up with these principles and habits. Today, more than ever, people enjoy all these privileges. We are free to choose how we live, whom we marry, and the type of work we want to do. Although this sounds good in theory, it introduces a unique modern problem: having too many choices, too much information, and immense pressure to make the right decision. Often, we become unable to think because of our anxiety about what to do, allowing important opportunities to slip by.
