One of the most successful types of education that a teacher can use to equip students with reading skills is differentiated instruction. This type of education is one of the modern teaching strategies that align with the demands of the time and its continuous developments. Some have considered it the teaching strategy of the 21st century. For this reason, this book sheds light on this type of education, explaining its concepts and the theories it is based on, and offering practical applications for teaching reading in light of it. This book covers three chapters. The first chapter includes three main topics: the first covers reading, its concept, reasons for its development, its relationship with other language skills, and the goals of teaching it in the second cycle of basic education schools in the Sultanate. It also discusses the factors affecting its teaching and the attitude towards reading. The second topic includes reading comprehension, its concept and levels, the factors influencing its improvement, the nature of the reading process and its relation to it, strategies for its development, and proposals for its enhancement among students. The third topic includes the concept of creativity in general, the characteristics and traits of creative individuals, the definition of creative reading and its criteria, its skills, and procedures for developing it among students. The second chapter includes the concept of differentiated instruction, its foundations and principles, the difference between it and regular traditional teaching, its goals and main dimensions, the learning theories it relies on, its strategies, the role of the teacher and student within it, its implementation procedures, and its evaluation methods. It also discusses the importance of its application for middle school grades and how to use it in teaching reading. The third chapter includes comprehensive reading lesson plans designed in light of differentiated instruction.
