The "Dictionary of Palestinian Folk Games" is one installment in a seven-part series prepared by Professor Hussein Ali Lubani. This series addresses issues, aspects, and activities deeply connected to the homeland of Palestine. The other six dictionaries are: Dictionary of Palestinian Proverbs, Dictionary of Colloquial and Foreign Words in Palestine, Dictionary of Heritage Words in Palestine, Dictionary of Palestinian Foods, Dictionary of Palestinian City and Village Names, and Dictionary of Nicknames and Patronymics in the World of Animate and Inanimate Objects.

This dictionary is an attempt by the author to serve his country culturally and to solidify its identity by documenting its right to preserve its heritage, which has faced attempts of erasure, theft, and appropriation, all aimed at eliminating the Palestinian identity—its land, people, civilization, culture, and heritage.

From this perspective, the author has documented most of the folk games known before the 1948 Nakba, proving that the Palestinian people practiced hundreds of games in their homeland. He has arranged the games' names alphabetically, providing their common pronunciation, mentioning other names, and describing each game in detail: its characters, their roles, and the method of play, sometimes also discussing variations of a single game.
