Set in the 1960s in the Shindagha area of Dubai before the UAE union, this story follows a girl named "Roza" who is denied a scholarship to study Arabic literature in Damascus due to her mother's death and her uncle's refusal to let her travel. Roza turns to writing in secret diaries to express her anger, documenting historical and social transformations and old traditions in a philosophical and literary style. Each diary entry ends with her tossing her diaries into the waters of Dubai Creek to dispose of them before anyone sees them.
