Given the importance of computers in our modern era, their integration into the educational process, and their use as a teaching tool both inside and outside the classroom, this book was written to address the need in Arab libraries in schools and universities for educational material that clarifies how to utilize computers in education.

Using computers as a teaching tool requires the production of educational software using a programming language. Due to the scarcity of specialists in this field, we decided to present models of educationally produced software using PowerPoint and Visual Basic, displayed in an easy-to-follow, step-by-step manner. The user only needs to follow these steps, which reduces reliance on mastering programming languages, allowing any teacher to follow these steps and produce any programmed educational material.

This book consists of nine chapters:

  • Chapter One: Instructional Design: This chapter covers the components of an instructional plan and one of the modern and commonly used models of instructional design.
  • Chapter Two: The Computer and Educational Software: This chapter discusses the goals and justifications for introducing computers into educational institutions, the role of the computer as a teacher, tool, or learner, types of educational computer programs, and the obstacles to computer use and proposed solutions.
  • Chapter Three: Educational Software Design: This chapter covers the standards and rules for computer screen design, and the design and production steps for good educational software.
  • Chapter Four: Production of Educational Software: This chapter covers screen setup and presents models illustrating how to produce educational software using PowerPoint and Visual Basic.
  • Chapter Five: Multimedia Production: This chapter covers the steps to download and save an image from the internet, how to insert images and videos, using embedded and linked audio files in PowerPoint, recording audio, and producing educational software with sound effects.
  • Chapter Six: Adobe Photoshop: This chapter introduces the Photoshop program, using its tools for design, adding effects to images, and correcting errors in photos.
  • Chapter Seven: The Internet: This chapter covers the stages of the internet's emergence and development, its areas of use, how to search using the internet, and email.
  • Chapter Eight: E-Learning: This chapter covers its definition, justifications, e-learning models, its characteristics and benefits, and an introduction to e-books and the philosophy of the e-school.
  • Chapter Nine: Website Creation: This chapter covers the concept of the web, preparing to create web pages and a website, methods for obtaining a free website, and uploading pages to the website.
