The issue of divine existence is the most prominent evidence of humanity's overreach and insolence towards its Lord. Although the existence of God Almighty is a concept ingrained in the innate human nature (fitra), from which the human heart sprouts and conscience thrives, the extravagance of the intellect can lead a person far into what causes their misguidance and misery. It might be considered a form of epistemic ingratitude to place the matter of divine existence on the platform of research and debate, as knowledge by its nature is revealed, deriving its veracity and proof from God Almighty. How, then, can He be a subject of research and consideration?! However, one who observes the arenas of religious debate, especially in this era, finds widespread conflict between believers and atheists. This has reached the point where innate knowledge has shifted from being a starting point for establishing truths to being itself a subject requiring proof. Thus, the fitra is now something to be proven, after it was once the means of proof.

From this standpoint, this book (Daylight Candles) comes to gather the various perspectives on this issue and to organize, with the threads of its research and content, the potent arguments in this debate. It adopts a form that transcends the purely philosophical/theological mold to include an updated approach to the nature of the evidence and proofs presented, and the doubts raised against them by refuters. We hope this will serve as an opening to broaden the horizons of thought and doctrinal renewal.
