Following the first international conference on criminal law in Bucharest, which focused on the victim in criminal law, Mendelson first presented his research on the characteristics of crime victims. He addressed the traits that make certain individuals more susceptible to becoming victims of violence and crime. This built upon the work of Hans von Hentig, Stephen Schafer, and others who emphasized the importance of victimology. In this study, the author endeavors to provide researchers with a general framework for clinical empirical studies in psychotherapy, and the general reader with an accessible theoretical framework. It links certain personality traits found in victims of domestic violence, sexual harassment, and rape—such as recklessness, negligence, low self-confidence, value imbalance, provocation, and seduction—to their occurrence in various violent incidents. These incidents cause psychological disorders, most notably post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), neurotic depression, mood disorders, generalized anxiety disorder, sleep disorders, social phobia, personality disorders, adjustment disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and sexual disorders. The presence and severity of these disorders can be detected through a battery of post-traumatic psychological disorder assessments. This study, with its sample, methodological frameworks, and the scales developed, was applied in a manner compatible with its community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Hariri presented his doctoral thesis on criminal psychotherapy. He is a professionally licensed psychotherapist registered on the international list of experts in traumatic stress. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress (S.T.E.A.A) and the National Center for Crisis Management (N.C.C.M), and a member of numerous local and international associations such as the American Association on Mental Retardation (A.A.M.R), the American Psychological Association (A.P.A), the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (I.S.T.S.S), and the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (E.S.T.S.S). He has participated in many local and international conferences, has studies in the fields of psychotherapy and human factors in aviation accidents, and has made media contributions on television and radio, such as the 'Economic Clinic' program on the Economic Channel and the 'Your Psychological Counselor' program on Saudi Arabian radio.
