Cosmetics, also known as makeup, are substances used to enhance or protect the appearance or scent of the human body. They include a wide range of products such as skin care creams, lotions, powders, perfumes, lipsticks, nail polishes, eye and face makeup, colored contact lenses, hair dyes, hair sprays, gels, deodorants, baby hygiene products, bath oils, bubble bath products, bath salts, and many other types.

Cosmetics are widely used. The subset of cosmetics called 'makeup' primarily refers to colored products that alter the user's appearance. Many manufacturers distinguish between decorative cosmetics and care cosmetics.
