According to Émile Bréhier, the end of the nineteenth century witnessed the end of all philosophical hopes. 'Nihilism,' according to Nietzsche, was the outcome of the historical course of Western philosophy. This end thus marked the dawn of contemporary philosophy, making it a piece of nihilism.
The word 'nihilism,' although referring to the 'dissolution' in contemporary philosophy, does not mean the absence of a 'present' in philosophy. It indicates that the present is connected to the past; philosophical questions, as Rüdiger Bubner says, do not fall from the sky.
This book can be considered an introduction to the present of philosophy. The studies it contains are divided into two parts: the first part focuses on analyzing some philosophical problems, and the second part moves between prominent contemporary philosophers, shedding light on their views on politics, art, language, and science. The studies, originally research papers and lectures, were created in response to various motivations and therefore do not follow a single line of thought. Ultimately, it is hoped that this book will be a useful exploratory journey.
