This book presents a comparative linguistic study that examines the principle of structural reflection and its effectiveness in deriving meaningful generalizations about typology and evolution. The importance of these generalizations, if validated, is considered within vital social fields like translation and language teaching. In this context, 'Ahmed Al-Mutawakkil' proposes a framework for discourse considered novel in comparative linguistics. This innovative approach manifests in three aspects, according to the author: 'Firstly, it contributes to strengthening the openness of the functional approach to comparative-historical studies. Secondly, it expands the concept of comparison to include discourse type comparisons and comparisons between different periods and synchronicities of a single language, in addition to what traditional comparison involves between languages. Thirdly, and most importantly, it establishes comparison in these three fields on a single functional principle, the principle of "structural reflection," which governs both the method and nature of linking the semantic-pragmatic level with the morphological-syntactic and phonological-prosodic levels.' At the study's conclusion, the author successfully demonstrates that language typology cannot be unidimensional, relying solely on morphology, syntax, phonology, semantics, or pragmatics, but must encompass all these dimensions interactively. The study is divided into three chapters: Chapter One: Structural Reflection. Chapter Two: Structural Reflection and Comparison. Chapter Three: Structural Reflection and Language Evolution.
